Our miXx lessons consist of a special program developed by a professional dancer who is also a linguist with second language acquisition experience. In all of our lessons, we provide an introduction to bilingual education to the parents, as well as a chance for your child to come into contact with different dances, music, and cultures from all around the world. In addition, we aim to increase their dance abilities by developing their sense of rhythm, endurance, flexibility, and ability to express themselves.

Learn from pro dancers
The head a second language acquisition specialist who is also trilingual (English, Japanese, Korean). We plan to gather more professional dancers with exemplary language abilities going forward.
Jumpstart bilingual education
Our lessons are conducted primarily in English. Explanations for activities are explained in Japanese if necessary, which allows even English beginners to have fun in a stress-free environment. For those with higher language abilities, we match their level and flexibly correspond.

Become introduced to different cultures of the world through dance. Using traditional music, videos, and items from each country, your child can participate in various dance activities. Through this method, your child will be able to learn various countries' dances, as well as be able to learn their culture, current trends and phrases, and more.

In our lessons, your child can experience different music from countries all across the world, each containing unique types of rhythms and beats. With dance having become a mandatory subject in Japanese public schools, the importance of developing rhythm has further increased. Developing a sense of rhythm helps improve kinesthetic sense, coordination, as well language abilities. *Amount varies from person to person

Through dance, your child will use and develop muscles and increase flexibility as they do activities and choreography that has been designed to target various parts of the body. Your child will also be able to increase their endurance while having fun as they learn dance, language and aspects of different cultures.

Through freestyle dance activities, your child will learn how to express themselves, leading to increased self-confidence. Jumpstart bilingual education
◢ All of our lessons are taught bilingually in English and Japanese, with English being the primary language used in our lessons. All of our lesson plans have been thoroughly developed by an education and second language acquisition specialist who is also a professional dancer.
Bilingual education is on the rise in the US, with the number of bilingual programs steadily increasing [1]. Bilingual education is education for any subject that uses two languages: the student’s native language and the second language they want to acquire. According to research, the advantages of bilingual education include effectively acquiring high speaking and literacy skills [2] and better multi-tasking skills [3]. In addition, there is a stronger appeal for job searching in the future [4].
Learn from pro dancers
◢ Our head teacher has accumulated plenty of dance and language acquisition experience. They have danced as back up dancer for artists and been a part of professional dance teams, as well as taught dance to both kids and adults. In regards to language, they acquired a BA in Japanese and Linguistics from Boston University, and have experience teaching beginner to advanced language learners, as well as to kids and adults.

◢ Through spending time with our teachers from various countries, your child can experience an environment different from their normal day to day lives. In the world, there are many different types of genres of dance and music. In miXx, we provide an international environment to your child, and we strive to aide in their growth as well as the development of their ability to respect the diversity of others.
Develop rhythm through diverse music
◢ From the 1-2-3, 5-6-7 beat found in salsa to the 1-and-2-and beat of reggaeton, our lessons will allow your child to experience different types of beats and rhythms found in various music around the world. As your child becomes accustomed to hearing different types of beats and gains the ability to discern sounds, this will improve their literacy [1] and reading speed [2], in addition to having physical benefits.
Dance is now a required subject in schools from [3]. However, studies show that many teachers assigned to teach dance in schools are not qualified to do so [4]. In miXx, we provide lessons taught by professional dancers, so we will aide in helping your child dance to any rhythm.
Build strength, endurance, and flexibility
◢ Dance requires usage of the body, so naturally it brings about many physical benefits. Some of these benefits include:
- Increase of body awareness (kinesthesis), balance, muscle strength, and coordination [1]
- Correction of poor posture, improvement of cardiovascular (heart) health, and weight loss for overweight children [2]
- Improvement of fine and gross motor skills [3]
Foster individuality
◢ Dance has the power to show and foster one’s individuality. Research has shown that the type of movement someone makes during dance can give perspective on that person’s personality [1], which in turn will give you as a parent a better understanding of your child. We aim to create an environment for your child where they can feel safe dancing at miXx, and provide lessons in said safe space. Through this, your child can learn to express themselves, increase their self-esteem and confidence [2], and help them become more social, learning how to make new relationships in various environments [3].
